Shorts

It was a city holiday today where my office is at so we decided to try out the new play place in MoA, Kids Universe. It was very fun and tiring being a kid for a day again. On our way home BoyKulit wanted some hot chocolate from Starbucks (his favorite). But since he was already wearing his house clothes and boxers I told him he can't, he has to wear his pants or shorts first so he can order, being BoyKulit, he got his shorts, put it on his head and with a big grin said;

BK: I'm wearing my shorts now!

LOL, honga naman.

Young Master Kulit

Last Thursday when D picked BoyKulit up from school, he was in a bad mood. He rode the car and sat down with arms crossed and a sour face. So D asks him;

D: Hi babe, what's wrong?
BK: Daddy, I don't want ice cream. I don't want taho. I don't want spaghetti. I want to go home. Now.
D: uh, ok...

Turns out he wanted to leave their room after class but couldn't since there was a birthday party and it was crowded in the corridor. Ayun, badtrip! Such a senyorito!

Tuesday last week when I got home from work, I asked BoyKulit;

M: How was school today?

This was the answer I got...

Tagalog

Last Saturday was BoyKulit's PTC, we found out that he was doing exceptionally well in school. His teachers said that he was like the 'kuya' in his class, very sweet and perceptive. He is also the most analytical kid, I am so proud of him! So on our way to the mall, D asks him;

D: Babe, do you want to learn how to read?
BK: no
D: why?

BK: I want to understand tagalog.

Tagugsh!

Attitude

The other night BoyKulit and his D were arguing about something while I was working on my laptop, when I heard him say;

BK: Daddy, I don't like you're attitude!

When I turned around I saw D trying hard not to smile... =P

We were in High Street last weekend with some friends, BoyKulit was running around with Kuya Kyle when he saw the big rock fixture;

BK: Look Kuya! It's a giant peeing spider!

Apple of my Eye

Last Saturday, as we were driving to dinner with Boykulit's Papang and Mamang, the song 'Apple of my Eye' came on. Unkown to us, BK was listening intently and trying to sing along. When the song ended he said;

BK: Mommy, the man said you have to put an apple in your eye.

LOL.

Translator

Yesterday D picked BoyKulit and Yaya from school. When he got in the car, he gave his D a hug and said;

BK: Daddy, I'm so sweaty!
(then looks at the back seat and says)
BK: Yaya... pawis!

LOL. I laughed so hard when D told me this, pilyong bata!

PootPoot!

Sick kids aren't usually cheerful, that is not the case with BoyKulit. Yesterday morning he was a bit subdued but after his doctors appointment and a nap, he's back to his normal makulit self.

(in the car, I was carrying him in my arms, i felt him pass gas)
BK: heeheehee

M: what was that?

BK: I made pootpoot mommy

M: aaah! it stinks! (so I cover my nose with my shirt)

BK: no Mommy! you smell my pootpoot! hahahah! it's stinky!

M: Noooooo! (covering my nose again)

BK: you smell my pootpoot, Mommy! (in a singsong voice)

M: AAAAAAAAH!

He was just giggling the whole time.
And we were back to goofing around, this didn't happen just once mind you. Back home he kept on farting and he was laughing everytime we'd be covering our noses. His farts smell like grown-up farts! LOL.

Thunder

The day before yesterday, when BoyKulit woke up with a fever, he was extra cranky than usual. He wanted to watch IceAge3 on his iPod so he asked his Yaya to hold it for him (senyorito talaga!) While watching, it started to rain, followed by thunder and it annoyed the hell out of him;

BK: Yaya!
Yaya: What?
BK: It's noisy!
Yaya: huh?
BK: the thunder! it's noisy!
Yaya: yes
BK: Turn it off! I can't hear Manny!

(Ngyahaha! Inangkin na nga yun Pinas, pinapapatay pa yun kulog?! The best talaga!)

************

Which reminded me of another incident that happened last year, again with his yaya;

Yaya: Goodnight! I'll close the lights na.
BK: No yaya! It's turn off not close.

LOL.

BK: look mommy its my philippines!
M: yes its the philippines
BK: no its my philippines, its mine!

BoyLambing

Reading BoyKulit's progress report for last month, I wasn't surprised that even other people notice that he is sensitive (not all the time though) but he knows when to make lambing. That's one of the things I missed most. A week before I left, I had a really bad day and he saw me crying, he immediately sat beside me;

BK: mommy what's wrong?
M: I'm just sad
BK: why are you crying?
M: because things didn't go my way
BK: it's ok mommy, don't worry, i'm here

He then gives me a hug and lays down beside me. That just made my day. And it's not just with me or his D, he is very malambing to the people around him, when he sees his cousins he would hug them and tell them "I missed you Ate!" He is very expressive, with anything, come to think of it. He would say what he feels out loud, like most kids are, no edits it's just that he can express himself more accurately than other toddlers his age.

(in a store, can't remember where)
BK: mommy, it stinks in here!
M: no it doesn't
BK: yes! can't you smell it? let's go, I don't like it here.
M: wait mommy has to pay for this
BK: i told you it stinks here!
=/

He's a walking verbal diarrhea, but he always makes up for it for his being sweet, he would always greet us with a big hug and an "I missed you! I love you!" whenever we get home. He's not always like this though, he's still a regular toddler with tantrums and all. I just hope this isn't a phase and that he grows up as malambing as he is now :)

September Progress Report

BoyKulit is attentive and is able to express what he sees with the things around him. He has a keen sense of humor and can be very sensitive towards others in class. He enjoys doing the classroom routines especially singing and dancing. He also participates in classroom activities, as he confidently does things even though it seems new to him. BK is adventurous and naturally curious, as he asks questions about things he sees and things he doesn't understand and seems to be able to grasp the ideas and explanations well. He is familiar with the letters T and H and its sounds. He also knows the different kinds of transportation, the concept of traffic light and what it means as well as the concept of big and small. He can make out the number concept of 3 and can rote count from 1 to 10. We hope BK can continue his good attitude and behavior in school.

Wow, I've only been gone for a month and I feel like I missed a lot! I'm glad he's behaving in school now.

Sorry for the hiatus, I was out of the country on business for a month and was very busy during that time (and I found that it made me miss BK more when i tried writing a blog entry). It's been two weeks since I got back and I haven't blogged about anything coz I was trying to make up for the lost time.

Happy birthday BoyKulit!!!

Three years ago on Aug. 17, 2009 at 6:47 am BoyKulit was borne into this world and since then life as I have known it had never been the same. It has been the best, wonderful, fun-filled and surprising three years of my life. I never thought I can feel this way for someone, like my heart will burst from all the emotions it is feeling. I dread the thought that one day, this tiny person will break my heart, I don't think I can ever be ready for that but I have accepted the fact that adolescence happens to everyone like clockwork.

My only wish is that he grows up a good person, I'm sure we'll have more than normal share of school troubles but that's a different story altogether. :)

For now, he's still my baby (puppy, gecko, snake, dragon, triceratop ...) and I will be savoring the moments we have. Time goes by so fast and just like what Steve Tyler sings; I don't want to miss a thing!

Happy Birthday my BoyKulit!!!

BoyKulit Strikes again

Last week was my schedule to pick BoyKulit up from school. 2 days in a row, he has told me that his teacher has asked him to sit in the time out chair. The first time, it was because he poked his classmate in the eye, he did say sorry and promised not to do it again. The second day, he really couldn't explain what he did, so last Saturday since the parents had a meeting in school, I went up to his adviser and asked her what happened. Turns out, during playtime as he was busy tinkering with some toys, his classmate walked by, he looks up and sees him, when his classmate was almost beside him he stuck his foot out and trips his classmate, after which he covers his mouth and giggles to himself ( as in "heeheehee") unknown to him his teacher witnessed the whole thing. So when Teacher calls his attention, he goes to his classmate, who by that time was crying on the floor, and starts apologizing profusely. I was so embarrassed!
I told his D the story when I got home and he was surprised too, he said it was something a first grader would do, but not a toddler. I admit it was kinda funny, but wow. I guess I gotta be ready to be surprised.

Amazingly Makulit

I was chatting online with Tita Ayn last Wednesday when Boykulit was trying to get my attention and since I was preoccupied I really didn't understand what he was trying to tell me, when all of a sudden he shouted;

BK: LOOK MOMMY! I'M AMAZING!

LOL, how can I not give him my full attention then? Hehehe, he really is amazingly makulit :)

Bullseye!

BoyKulit has now been playing RPG's on his iPod, his favorites as of the moment are Assassin's Creed and Castle of Magic. In Castle of Magic, the main character would yell "Robin Hood!" when he gets his bow but BK hears otherwise;

BK: Robin the Dude!!
M: what?
BK: look mommy, it's Robin the Dude!
M: no, it's Robin Hood, babe
BK: no, Robin the Dude!
M: okay...
(after a couple of minutes)
BK: BUMBAY!!!
M: huwaaaaaat?!
BK: Bumbay!

I look over his shoulder and turns out the character is shouting "BULLSEYE!"
Wahahahah! I just have to make sure he doesn't play this game in a Persian Restaurant. LOL

Richie Rich

BoyKulit has been tagging along with me a lot more of late. The other day he insisted on going with me to the bank, I told him it was not a place for little boys but since he promised that he will behave with his puppy dog eyes, I believed him. He did behave a bit (meaning he didn't run a round as much) and there were a lot of questions;

BK: Mommy, where we are?
M: Where are we.
BK: Mommy, where are we?

M: We're in the bank

BK: In the bank?

M: yes

BK: what's a bank

M: It's where people keep their money

BK: What are they doing? (pointing to the tellers)

M: They count our money

BK: Why does the man have a big gun?
M: So we can be safe

BK: Why?

M: Enough questions it's our turn
( I sit him on top of the counter)
BK: Good morning! (to the teller)

Teller: Good Morning

BK: She's counting my money?

M: Yes
BK: Mommy they're doctors?

M: No, they're bank tellers
BK: (points to the manager who was passing by) She's a doctor?

M: No she's the Manager

BK: HI! (to the manager)

Manager: Hi!

When we're done, BoyKulit says goodbye to everybody. As in "Bye bank tellers, bye manager, bye peoples, bye big gun, bye manong guard, bye bank!"

* * * * *
* * * * *

That afternoon D asks him how his day went;

D: So where did you go today?
BK: we went to the bank

D: wow! What did you see?

BK: I keep all my moneys in the bank and they are counting all my moneys.

LOL! Rich!

The Name Game

When I was a kid, my mom named ALL of my stuffed animals and toys (including Barbie) so of course most of BoyKulit's have names too. I named most of the toys but around a year and a half ago, he started naming them. The first toy he ever named was 'WIKI' an alien looking thing and most of his toys now were named by him, including his pet hamsters; 'Lady and Pop'.

wiki

BoyKulit with Pop

It's really cute but sometimes everything has to have a name, especially when were watching TV, ang kulit!

BK: what's his name the Blue train?
M: I don't know
BK: no, what's his name?
M: babe, i didn't hear it yet
BK: what's his name mommy?
(aaaaaaaaaah!)

It wouldn't stop until I actually came up with the name or make one and if I do make one up, I have to be consistent with it coz he remembers EVERYTHING. This also happens when we're in the car;

BK: Mommy, what's that trucks name?
M: I don't know
BK: no, what's his name?
M : it's not written on his back, I don't know babe, I'm sorry
BK: what's the trucksy's name?
M: dunno babe
BK: oh i know, his name's Trucksy! and the waterfalls' name is Waterfallsy!
(ooooookaaaaaaaaaaay...)

He just loves making up names and words too that I sometimes don't correct him coz it's funny (hehehe... bad mommy)

BK: look truckses!

BoyKulit Parties (Again)

Last Wednesday was Jeri's first birthday it was a small celebration, just a couple of Tita Bang's friends. BK just woke up when we got there so he was still grumpy. But after a couple of minutes he was back to his old self again. He found Tita Vicky's iPod touch and started playing with it. Then Tita Bang gave him some tickets for the Merry-go-round, which was consumed immediately.

Boykulit: Mommy, let's ride the train downstairs
M: You tell Tita Bang
BK: No, you tell him
M: No, you tell HER
BK: you tell her, now!
(lokong bata, inutusan pa ko!)

********************

BoyKulit also helped Jeri blow out the candles on her cake,
kaya lang tulo laway =)

********************

The Mommies also rode the the mini roller coaster, we were all shouting and laughing while BK watched from below. When the ride was over BK was waiting for us at the exit with his 'mad' look (
kunot ang noo, nose scrunched up, pouting)

BK: I want to ride too!

*********************

After the party as we were walking around the mall, he asks;

BK: Mommy where's Jeri?
M: she went home
BK: where's Tita Bang?
M: she took Jeri home?
BK: in Cavite?
M: Yes
BK: where's lola?
M: she went home with Tita Bang and Jeri
BK: where's tito Mike
M: he went home too
BK: where's the other iPod?
M: it's with Tita Vicky
BK: where's tita Vicky?
M: went home too
BK: where's the purple lady?
M: huh?
BK: the purple lady, with you, when you ride the train
M: tita Nonie? (
nka purple ka ba nonie? heheh)
BK: yes, where's tita Nonie
M: she went home too
BK: Oh, ok.

Whew, rollcall?!

****************************************

On the way home in the car...

Yaya: You want to sit here (at the back)?
BK: not really, yaya!

LOL.

Tats

It was raining non-stop last weekend that we were stuck at home. BoyKulit and I were just goofing around when he saw a bunch of removable tattoos that Tita A gave him.

BK: Mommy, put tattoo
M: ok
BK: Put it on my back?
(i was really surprised he remembers that I told him I'll be putting his tattoos on his back from 3 months ago)

So here's the end result:

Timeout

I put BoyKulit on a 3-minute timeout yesterday for throwing all his toy soldiers in the room. A couple of seconds before his timeout is done he waves to his D;

BK: D, come here...
D: ask M.
BK: Mommy, come here...
(so I go sit beside him)
M: why?
BK: I'm sorry
M: you know why you're on timeout?
BK: yes
M: why?
BK: because I throw all the toys
M: so what will you do?
BK: pick them up
M: will you do it again?
BK: no...

Then I give him a big hug. I'm glad that he knows why he is being punished, for a kid who's almost 3, I think it's outstanding. I'm really so proud of him ( I can't say it enough) .

BoyKulit on the Road

BoyKulit has been fascinated with all types of vehicles since he started recognizing different kinds ( I think it started when he was a year old). Now that he's almost 3, he knows almost all kinds of construction type vehicles (backhoe, excavator, dumper, forklift, etc.) It's just frustrating that he has to point out every single car/truck/vehicle when I'm driving.

BK: Mommy, look a mixer!

M: wow
BK: look! look! you're not looking!!!

It's always been like that and now that he knows the car parts ( stick shift, handbrake, steering wheel, etc.) he always has some kind of question about it.

BK: mommy what does it do?

M: which one?

BK: the stick shift

M: for shifting gears

BK: shifting gears?

M: yes

BK: for the car?

M: yes

BK: oh ok. (then starts pushing it)

Also since we taught him what the traffic lights are for, every single stop has to be like this;

BK: look it's red! red means stop, look Mommy, the arrow is pointing left! it's a red arrow! it means stop! green means go! Yellow means slow down!

It's like having a little MMDA in your car, talking in a high little voice. LOL. It gets to my nerves sometimes but I'd never want it any other way:)

Chismoso

I came home from work late one day last week and I saw BoyKulit and his D on the bed playing a game on the iPod. So i lay down beside them and started talking to D in Tagalog since he can't understand it much.

BK: Mommy, wachu doin?
M: I'm just talking to Daddy
BK: Wachu talkin about?

M: About work

BK: Wachu talkin about work?

M: How Mommy can make money

BK: So you can buy me toys?

M: Yup, so I can buy toys and food and nice clothes for you

BK: Oh, yeah. Ok.

Then he goes back to playing. =P Chismosong bata talaga to.... hehehe.

BoyKulit parties!

Last Sunday, we attended my Godson's 1st birthday. It was the usual, fast food party, games, kids, toys. But one thing that really made me super proud of my BoyKulit that day is his ability to retain instructions given at a short period of time. See, he joined a parlor game where you had to pass a small ball around a circle of kids while doing something. When the music stops and the ball is in your hand, then you're out. It was funny because the host was giving instructions in Tagalog and she had to translate everything for BK. We were thinking he's gonna lose coz he wouldn't understand since it was pretty complicated for a 2.11 yr old kid. But he just nodded yes after the host translated and asked him if he got it.
So the game started with the player rubbing the ball on his tummy before passing it on to the next one. Everybody was surprised and laughing that he got it right, then it started getting harder;

- rub tummy, pat on head then pass

- rub tummy, pat on head, rub arm, pass

- rub tummy, pat on head, rub arm, rub knee, pass

- rub tummy, pat on head, rub arm, rub knee, rub shoulder, pass
- rub tummy, pat on head, rub arm, rub knee, rub shoulder, rub foot, pass

- rub tummy, pat on head, rub arm, rub knee, rub shoulder, rub foot, turn around, pass

- rub tummy, pat on head, rub arm, rub knee, rub shoulder, rub foot, turn around, wiggle body ,pass

- rub tummy, pat on head, rub arm, rub knee, rub shoulder, rub foot, turn around, wiggle body, rub butt, pass

And every single time he got it right (well, he might've missed some but I don't want to get too technical, you know? hehehe) and he didn't get caught with the ball! I was sooooo amazed and proud I wanted to cry. The audience were all laughing and rooting for him on the last round, it was BK and his Ate Frances (his kinakapatid) who were the left.

Guess who won? =)

work mode

I have been on vacation for a month and BoyKulit has me all to himself, following his every whim. serving him hand and foot. Then 2 weeks ago, I told him that M has to go back to work and it was a big "NO!" Every night I will tell him that I have to go back to work soon ...

M: Babe, I have to go back to work soon...
BK: NO! I don't like Mommy go back to work
M: what will Mommy do?
BK: Mommy stay here at home with me
M: I need to work so we can have money to buy your toys and buy food
BK: Daddy go to work, Mommy stay here!

Everyday it was like this, he would always reason that I have to stay home with him. But I know he understands, it's just that he's so used to me staying at home all the time again.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Last week, I went back to work and I missed BoyKulit terribly. Someone played Jack Johnson's Better Together and I almost cried :( it was one of our quiet time songs.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

The other day, as I was driving home from work, I passed by a vendor selling Helium character balloons. I bought him a Doraemon balloon. BK was so happy that, that night as I was getting ready for work, he asked:

BK: Mommy go to work?
M: Yup
BK: Ok, buy me train ha?

LOL.

Sleeping Habits

I just put BoyKulit down for his afternoon nap and this is how he looks:

He said he wanted to sleep with his gun beside him, the other day it was a pair of long-nosed pliers, not the toy kind, mind you. Is he growing up violent? =S

Bumblebee

We went to Mall of Asia yesterday with D's cousin Pachik, to pay for our reservations in iMax. (We'll be watching Transformers tomorrow, yay!) And there was a Bumblebee mascot there so we let him run around and play. On our way home, he said "Little puppy sleepy" so he laid down at the back of the car. After a couple of minutes, I heard him snore (yes, he snores lightly) so we started talking about Transformers. About 15 minutes into the conversation BoyKulit suddenly points to the ceiling of the car and says "Bumblebee is in the Mall of Asia, and Octimus Prime (yes with a 'C') is in the Mall of Asia too" then puts his hand down and starts snoring again. LOL Sumasali pa sa usapan eh.... =)

Alphabets

We were practicing on BoyKulit's alphabets the other day and learning how to spell words when we started goofing around. He jumped up and down the bed shouting "T-I-T-I-T-I-T-I-T-I-T-I!" over and over again, it was hilarious.
=P

Plucky, plucky

I caught BoyKulit doing this the other day:

And I asked him what he was doing; he said "Like mommy, remove eyebrows"

LOL. Oops, guess I shouldn't do my make up with him in the room. =P

Gesundheit

I sneezed twice last night while I was sleeping, funny thing is, BoyKulit (who was asleep beside me) said "Bless you, mommy" right after both sneezes. LOL

=)

These guys

Our family believe in the benefits co-sleeping and this morning we woke up to BoyKulit playing with his toys in between us. We were cuddling and tickling each other when out of nowhere BK hugs both of us (an arm around the front of our necks) and shouts "I LOVE THESE GUYS!!!" over and over while laughing. D and I were both quite surprised but were very happy to hear him say it. =)

p.s. Happy Father's day D! and to all the Dads, Papangs, Poppas, Tatays, Itays, Lolos and Papas out there, thank you!

Lucky number

I was cooking last night when I heard BoyKulit counting his trucks. I expected him to stop when he got to 10 but he finished til twenty! Well thirteen really, the other numbers sounded funny. But I was soooooooooo amazed! I went up to him and hugged him and told him I was soooo proud of him.

Way to go my BoyKulit!

Smartass

One of BoyKulit's favorite line is "I don't like eh" (yes, there really is an 'eh') And I hate it when he doesn't say which one he doesn't like. So we were in the car and he goes;

BK: I don't like it eh
M: don't like what?

BK: I don't like Mommy

M: 'Don't like Mommy' what?

BK: Don't like Mommy change the music

M: Ok, I'm sorry. But didn't I tell you to finish your sentences? So i'd understand what it is you don't like?
BK: ok. I don't like Mommy say finish sentences eh!

>_< pilosopong bata to! hmph!

Bad Mommy

D and I love watching movies, and since we were Yaya-less last week, we decided to bring BoyKulit to watch 'Night at the Musuem 2' since it was a kid-friendly movie. And since there was a dinosaur, we thought he might enjoy it too. WRONG! The trailers were great since it was all animated, but as soon as the movie started, he became restless. He wanted to go walking around the cinema, and there was even a part that he started whining. D talked to him, but like most of the time, BK ends up crying and D, frustrated. So it was all up to me. Running out of things to make him sit still, I carry him and ...

M: Babe, please keep quiet

BK: don't like eh!

M: do you want the people will hurt M?

BK: no

M: well if you shout and run around the people will get mad at M and they will hurt me.

He looks at me and hugs me, then sits on my lap the whole length of the movie.

I know it's blackmail, but what was I to do? :(

Clueless

As most of you know, BoyKulit is addicted to my iPod touch. So every time we talk about it we spell it out.
(e.g.)
D: have you charged the i-p-o-d?

When he hears it he goes around saying it in a singsong voice

BK: aypeeyowdee! aypeeyowdee! aypeeyowdee!

no that's not his, it's Tita A's

hehehe... :P

This is how we roll

This video was taken last week, we we're near Frisco house so D let him drive :)

Vain!

Last Saturday, we picked up a good friend of mine, Bang in Megamall. She's in town for the week from Singapore and we're giving her a ride to their house in Cavite. On our way there, we decided to drop by McDonald's and grab a bite to eat. Since it was raining hard, I put a beret on BK. After doing so, he looks at the rearview mirror and does a 'pa-cute pose' then says:

BK: I'm sooo cute!

Bang and I stopped talking and looked at each other then burst out laughing.

LOL. If that isn't vain I don't know what is! :P

For about two weeks now BK has been extra curious about the names of places, but he always asks like this:

"
BK: Mommy, where we are?"

So, I try to correct him.

BK: Mommy, where we are?
M: We're in Rockwell
BK: Rockwell?
M: Yes. And it's.. 'Where'
BK: where
M: 'Are'...
BK: are
M: 'We'...
BK: we!
M: Where are we!
BK: WHERE WE ARE WE!!!

[TAGUGSH! haha....oh well, di bale nang sobra kesa kulang. LOL ]

Last night BK and D were playing with trucks on the floor when D asked him;

D: BK, who's your daddy?
BK: Uncle D!
